Tell us a Little about yourself.
I’m an easy-going person with a strong interest in society, politics and culture. When I’m not working or studying, I try to spend my time with those who are near and dear to me. I also love listening to music, playing guitar, reading, and going for long walks.

What are you studying?
I’m currently in the final semester of my master’s degree in political science at Stockholm University. I wrote my master’s thesis the previous semester on the topic of the culture of silence within Swedish public administration.

What are you working with at the moment?
Right now, I’m assisting in arranging a delegation trip to Germany. I find it very rewarding to be part of this project, as it has given me insight into Germany and its healthcare market, as well as valuable practical experience of coordinating a delegation trip together with partners abroad. I have also worked a lot recently on analyzing the responses to Swecare’s annual member survey, which has been a great way to familiarize myself with the member network and to understand the concrete value that Swecare offers to Swedish life science companies.

Why did you want to intern at Swecare?
I was drawn to Swecare because of their unique and fascinating role in promoting cross-sectoral cooperation between private sector, public sector, and academia. I was also intrigued by their international connections, as well as the field of life science which was relatively new to me. I got a strong overall impression that Swecare was a highly dynamic and exciting workplace where I could contribute to something truly important such as improving global health.

Is there a country or area you find particularly interesting?

Primarily Europe, as I’ve developed a distinct fascination with the EU through my studies in political science. On that note, I also think that the current state of geopolitics really proves the importance of furthering European unity and cooperation.

Is there anything you have learned that you did not know prior to your internship at Swecare?
I have learned- and continue to learn many things, for example about the life science field in Sweden and just how much variety and innovation it contains. I’ve also had several opportunities to learn about the healthcare systems and markets of a wide variety of other countries. Swecare has also given me a new perspective on the importance of Swedish export, and first-hand experience of the networks and synergies between the different actors that promote it.

What type of Music do you like to listen to while working or doing something fun, why?
I guess it depends on what kind of work I’m doing and my general mood. My favorite genre of music is progressive rock, but I find that it can sometimes be a bit distracting to listen to while working. When I feel
like I need a good boost of energy, it’s difficult to go wrong with some hard rock or metal.

What would you like to work with in the future?
I’m generally open-minded about where I’ll end up in the future. But I know that I’d like to continue working with something meaningful that makes a difference for people and contributes to a better society. Overall, I feel like I’m at a very exciting point in my life with plenty of opportunities and paths to explore!

Welcome to Swecare Sebastian!
